On this private tour of Sicily, experience the unforgettable cultural highlights of this beautiful Mediterranean island, such as Greek and Roman ruins, Baroque cities, hilltop villages and local food specialties.
Begin in Palermo, one of Italy’s great art and culinary cities. During private touring, explore Palermo's most interesting neighborhoods, local markets, the old Arab quarter, and unique Arab-Norman architecture. Also, take a private excursion to the stunning Cathedral of Monreale, a masterpiece of Arab, Norman and Byzantine art.
Next, transfer to Mazara del Vallo for two nights. En route, tour the highlights of northwestern Sicily. Visit Segesta to see the amphitheater and well-preserved Doric temple in a bucolic hillside setting. Also tour Erice, a medieval hilltop village that’s filled with cobblestone streets, flowering vines and the aroma of almond pastries, a local specialty.
Continue to Syracuse for one night. En route, tour ancient Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples, an outstanding collection of Hellenistic ruins and early Christian sites that’s one of the most significant archaeological sites in Sicily and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Syracuse, one of the most powerful cities of the ancient world, tour the elegant city with an expert private guide and see highlights such as the Greek theater, Roman amphitheater, the cave known as the Ear of Dionysius, and the historic center of the island of Ortygia.
Finally, transfer to Taormina. Enjoy a private excursion to Mt. Etna or opt to visit Piazza Armerina to see UNESCO site Villa Romana del Casale, an ancient Roman villa with exquisite mosaics covering the floors. Also enjoy free time to explore Taormina's Greek theater, beautiful gardens, numerous shops, and the resort's facilities and spectacular views of the Bay of Naxos and Mount Etna.
