(10 Days - Departs Daily on a Private Basis) Rome, Capri, Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Naples
This tour combines the rich history and sophisticated urban delights of Rome, the ancient ruins of Pompeii, and the picture-perfect seaside villages on the Amalfi Coast and Capri.
Begin with a relaxing overnight stay at La Posta Vecchia, located on the coastal outskirts of Rome. This elegant hotel was formerly the home of J. Paul Getty, and the basement is
now a museum housing the ancient ruins of a Roman villa that still remain under
the property. Spend a day enjoying the gardens and excellent restaurant before
departing with your private driver-guide to the pier for the transfer to Capri. Spend three nights at a luxurious hotel in the village of Anacapri. Spend one morning on a private boat exploring the coast of Capri. In the afternoon, leisurely enjoy specialty shops and cafes, or see other attractions such as the modernist Villa Malaparte.
Continue to the breathtaking Amalfi Coast. Spend three nights at a resort in Positano or Ravello. During private touring, drive along the Amalfi Coast to visit the seaside villages. Perhaps attend an evening concert in a villa perched atop the cliffs in Ravello—throughout the summer, chamber music concerts are held many evenings in villas overlooking the sea.
Finally, spend two nights in Rome. En route, enjoy a guided tour of the ruins of Pompeii, preserved for centuries under volcanic lava and ash. If desired, you may also enjoy a brief tour of Naples to visit small markets, the excellent archaeolical museum, fine clothing boutiques and specialty shops that specialize in the flavors of Naples' Greek, Roman and French-influenced cuisine—and, of course, pizza, coffee and pastries!
Enjoy comprehensive touring in Rome and experience the best of Roman culture, history and lifestyle. Discover ancient pagan and Christian monuments, the splendors of Baroque and Renaissance palaces and churches, and the surprising urban additions of the modern city. Highlights include the Roman and Imperial Forums, the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Vatican, Saint Peter's Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, Via Veneto, the morning fruit and flower market of Campo dei Fiori, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Jewish Quarter, Villa Borghese, the ruins along the Appian Way, beautiful Aventine Hill, the catacombs and "Underground Rome." During free time in Rome, enjoy la dolce vita and the city's excellent cuisine.
