This private luxury tour of Scotland features the country’s most beautiful locations and most renowned luxury hotels. Enjoy private touring that features iconic Scottish locations and experiences such as castles, whisky distilleries, Highlands scenery, architecture and garden tours, visits to historic villages and much more.

Begin in Edinburgh, the stunning capital of Scotland, with two nights in a sophisticated city hotel. During flexible touring with your private guide, explore the city according to your interests. Tour the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. See iconic Edinburgh Castle and walk along the Royal Mile, the road leading from the castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Explore historic buildings, as well as the narrow closes (alleys) and stairways that connect different levels of the city. Visit shops specializing in fine woven textiles, wool tweed and other distinctive Scottish products. Depending on your interests, you might like to visit the Royal Botanic Garden or National Gallery; tour the Scottish Parliament Building; or hike up an extinct volcano for panoramic views of Edinburgh and the nearby Firth of Forth, a tidal bay connected to the North Sea. In August, Artisans of Leisure can assist with tickets to the Edinburgh Tattoo or performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Next, transfer to the Scottish Highlands with touring en route. Visit Stirling, a strategic town on the edge of the Highlands that played an important role in the battles for Scottish independence. Tour Stirling Castle, which perches on a rocky outcrop and has panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Also visit the National Wallace Monument, a landmark dedicated to one of Scotland’s greatest heroes. Continue through the breathtaking scenery of Glen Coe, one of the most beautiful regions in the Highlands.

Stay two nights at a luxury hotel just outside the town of Fort William. One day, enjoy a private excursion to experience the best of the Scottish Highlands. Watch as the Jacobite Train—made famous in the Harry Potter movies—passes over the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct. See enchanting ruined castles like Kilchurn Castle or Castle Stalker, as well as the area’s most beautiful lochs and glens. Perhaps see a working sheepdog demonstration, enjoy historic touring around Inverness and Culloden, search for Nessie on boat cruise on Loch Ness, or ride the Nevis Range Scenic Mountain Gondola. Depending on timing, other options include taking a boat ride to look for porpoises, otters and sea birds, or watching exciting Highland Games. Upon request, Artisans of Leisure can also arrange additional special-interest touring, such as visiting Outlander sites or a day excursion by private charter flights to Isle of Islay for in-depth distillery visits.

Transfer back through the Highlands, stopping at scenic spots and whisky distilleries en route to the Fife Arms, a luxuriously restored historic inn located in the heart of Royal Deeside and Aberdeenshire. During private touring, see beautiful Highlands scenery in Cairngorms National Park, visit Braemar, famous for the annual Braemar Gathering (the most prestigious of the Highland Games), see the 17th-century Braemar Castle and enjoy guided hiking or scenic walks. One day, schedule permitting, visit Balmoral Castle, the private Scottish residence of the royal family since the 19th century. If desired, warm up with a dram of whisky at the historic Royal Lochnagar distillery next to the Balmoral estate.

Continue to Gleneagles, a luxury resort on 850 acres in the rolling hills of the Perthshire countryside. Stay three nights at Gleneagles, a luxury resort on 850 acres in the rolling hills of the idyllic countryside. During leisure time, enjoy on-site activity options such as 4WD tours, golf, fishing, horseback riding, biking, falconry, tennis, shopping, spa treatments, fine dining, and more. There’s also a golf academy for younger players, as well as a kids club sure to inspire the little ones. One day, enjoy a private excursion to nearby St. Andrews, a charming seaside university town, or Glasgow, which has cultural highlights such as art museums and Charles Rennie Mackintosh architecture.
