Highlights of Tanzania

This tour incorporates the three most famous game areas in Tanzania: Tarangire, Ngorongoro, and Singita Grumeti Reserves, which borders the Serengeti.

Begin with an overnight stay at a luxury lodge near Arusha, a region of lush, mountainous landscapes, Maasai settlements and coffee plantations.

Continue to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most interesting game parks. Its landscape is very diverse, composed of hills, flat grassy plains, swamps, river and dense bush, and is dotted with termite mounds. Best known for its baobab trees and prolific elephant population, Tarangire is also a birders’ paradise, with over 550 resident bird species. Spend two nights at a luxury tented camp in a secluded section of the park, and enjoy daily game drives, as well as time to relax, swim in the pool and view game at the camp’s water hole. Other optional activities include walking safaris, night game drives, or exclusive private meals in the bush.

Next, drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a unique region of plains and volcanic highlands that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The highlight of the area is the Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera that is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including the Big Five as well as hippopotamus, which are otherwise uncommon in the area. Huge flocks of bright pink flamingoes may also be seen converging on the crater’s lake. Stay at a luxury lodge perched on the crater’s rim, and enjoy spectacular views and exciting game drives in the crater. If desired, we can also arrange for cultural touring—such as visits to local Maasai villages, markets and art galleries, working coffee plantations, or the Olduvai Gorge—or philanthropic activities.

Then, fly to Singita Grumeti Reserves, a private game concession at the edge of Serengeti National Park. The area is known for its abundant wildlife—including elephants, leopards and plentiful lions—as well as its ideal location, which offers prime opportunities to view the annual great wildebeest migration. Spend two nights in a stylish, riverside luxury safari lodge, followed by two nights in East Africa’s most luxurious tented camp. Enjoy spectacular game drives—Grumeti Reserves’ status as a private concession means you will be able to view wildlife unfettered and without crowds. If desired, also enjoy walking and night-time safaris, as well as game drives into neighboring Serengeti National Park. You will also have plenty of time to indulge in spa treatments, play tennis, swim, and enjoy delicious gourmet meals. Return to Kilimanjaro, where you will be assisted to your international flight.
