Food & Wine Tour of Australia

(12 Days - Departs Daily on a Private Basis)
Melbourne, Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula, Barossa, Adelaide, McLaren Vale, Margaret River, Perth

This private food and wine tour of Australia includes private wine touring and tasting in the country’s premier wine regions, insider visits to food markets and specialty food purveyors, stays at the best hotels and resorts in each location, and reservations at restaurants serving the freshest and most creative cuisine in Australia.

Begin in lively Melbourne, a city with a rich culinary tradition and cultural mix. During flexible private touring, enjoy a food-focused tour of the city’s distinctive laneways, and see other highlights such as Federation Square, Carlton Gardens, Fitzroy Gardens, the Arts Centre Melbourne and the shops at Queen Victoria Market according to your interests. One day, enjoy a private excursion to the Yarra Valley wine region to sample some of the area’s best wines—especially Chardonnay and Pinot Noir—and have lunch at a winery restaurant. Another day, take a private, wine-focused excursion to the scenic Mornington Peninsula, a cool climate wine region best known for Pinot Noir, and also enjoy lunch at a winery restaurant. Reservations will also be made for you at Melbourne’s top restaurants, where chefs showcase the finest local ingredients.

Next, fly to Adelaide, and transfer to the nearby Barossa, a fertile valley that’s one of Australia’s most acclaimed wine regions. During private touring, enjoy private tastings of Shiraz and other wines at boutique and renowned wineries such as Penfolds, as well as lunch at a leading wine estate. If desired, also stroll through the area’s historic towns and sample artisanal local food products.

En route back to Adelaide, stop for wine touring and tasting in the Adelaide Hills wine region, a cool climate known for Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Also visit Adelaide’s Central Market and the National Wine Centre of Australia, and explore gardens, heritage architecture, and institutions such as the Art Gallery of South Australia and the Tandanya Aboriginal Cultural Institute according to your interests. Reservations will also be made for you at the best restaurants in Adelaide.

One day, enjoy a private excursion to McLaren Vale, an important agricultural region known for vineyards, olive groves, and nut and fruit orchards. Visit top local wineries to sample the fine Shiraz wines produced in McLaren Vale, as well as other varietals such as Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Enjoy lunch at a winery restaurant that incorporates local farm products. Alternatively today, venture to the Clare Valley, one of Australia’s oldest wine regions, which is famous for Riesling.

Fly to Perth, the sunny capital of Western Australia, and continue to Margaret River, one of Australia’s premier wine regions. During private touring, visit local wineries to sample the region’s acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as other popular varietals such as Merlot and Chardonnay. Behind-the-scenes winery tours, barrel tastings, olive oil tasting and scenic touring can also be incorporated into the day.

Return to Perth for private touring of highlights such as Kings Park & Botanic Museum and Cottesloe Beach. Also visit Fremantle, a historic port town at the mouth of the Swan River, to see Victorian-era neighborhoods and the Western Australian Maritime Museum. Alternatively today, enjoy a private excursion to the nearby Swan Valley wine region to visit wineries specializing in varietals such as Verdelho, Chenin Blanc and Shiraz.

This tour can be further customized with additional time or destinations in Australia.
