Begin in Muscat, the capital of Oman. Stay three nights at Al Bustan Palace, a luxurious resort set on the Gulf of Oman between dramatic mountains and a white-sand beach. During touring with your private guide and driver, explore Muscat highlights such as the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the harbor and fish market, and museums dedicated to Oman’s rich cultural heritage. See the Sultan’s Palace and hilltop fortresses overlooking the water. Walk along the corniche, sip tea at a local cafe, and browse local shops for silver jewelry and frankincense. One day, enjoy a private excursion to the oasis town of Nizwa. Walk along the ramparts of its historic fort, take in views of the sprawling palm oasis, and visit the souk to browse for pottery, copper and other local handicrafts.

Next, travel into the Wahiba Sands in the Sharqiya region for a night in an exclusive, private Bedouin-style desert camp amid spectacular sand dunes. Explore the dunes during the day, and then relax around a fire under a star-filled sky at night. En route to and from the Wahiba Sands, visit interesting places such as Ibra, an ancient trading town, and Sur, a seaside fishing village. Also see beautiful desert oases and wadis (desert washes) carved into the rugged mountains.

Return to Muscat for a final night.
