Family festivities during Christmas season in Vienna

Our favorite time to visit Vienna is during the magical holiday season that takes place from late November through December. For families traveling in Vienna during this time, we arrange special activities that are particularly recommended during the holiday season, such as making gingerbread in the kitchen at Schonbrunn Palace.

We also arrange for families to attend the Nutcracker at the Vienna State Opera, hear a performance of the Vienna Boy’s Choir, and watch the Lipizzaner horses practice at the Spanish Riding School.

Our private Vienna tours include the traditional Christmas markets that take place throughout the city. Although there are dozens of Christmas markets in Vienna, some are better than others, and it’s worth visiting those that offer the best combination of atmosphere, traditional food and drink, and high-quality, handmade crafts by local artisans.

Our guides help explain the Austrian holiday traditions and customs, tell fascinating stories about the history of various crafts and tree ornaments, and make sure that travelers try the most authentic culinary specialties.
