See mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, explore Kigali, and stay in the top hotels and lodges in the country on this private introductory tour of Rwanda.

Begin in Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital. During flexible private touring, visit local markets and art galleries, and tour the sobering Kigali Genocide Memorial, a museum dedicated to the horrific 1994 Rwandan genocide. Upon request, we can also arrange a Rwandan coffee tasting, a culinary tour or cooking lesson, and visits to local fashion designers and boutiques.

Next, transfer to Volcanoes National Park, a spectacular landscape of volcanic peaks in the Virunga Mountains that’s the natural habitat of mountain gorillas and was the base for celebrated gorilla researcher Dian Fossey. Stay in a lodge with views of the beautiful volcanoes and surrounding countryside. Track gorilla families during morning hikes, and perhaps also glimpse golden monkeys and other native species. Also visit Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. During leisure time, enjoy activities such as visiting a local community, seeing a nursery used in reforestation projects, going on birding walks, hiking in the mountains and visiting Dian Fossey’s research camp.

Upon request, we can further customize this private Rwanda tour to include scenic helicopter flights, philanthropic activities and private dining experiences. This tour can also be incorporated into a multi-country tour that combines destinations elsewhere in Africa.
