A Legend Reopens in Switzerland

private Switzerland tours
A redesign of the Palace Hotel at the Burgenstock Resort outside Lucerne, Switzerland

We're eagerly awaiting this summer's reopening of the Burgenstock Resort, a grand dame hotel in Switzerland just outside the picture-perfect town of Lucerne. Set on a mountaintop overlooking Lake Lucerne, it's an ideal base for cultural touring in Lucerne and scenic day tours into the beautiful surrounding mountains.

First opened in 1873, the resort has a long history and has hosted many illustrious guests, from European royalty to movie stars such as Audrey Hepburn, who was married at the resort in 1954, and Sofia Loren, who lived there for several years during the 1960s.

The Burgenstock Resort's spectacular renovation and expansion includes the historic Palace Hotel, the new five-star Burgenstock Hotel, a state-of-the-art spa, incredible restaurants and resort activities such as golf and tennis. Travelers will love exploring the beautiful trails and riding the iconic Hammetschwand Lift, an open-air cliffside elevator overlooking the lake.
