One of the most iconic landscapes in China, Mount Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its otherworldly beauty of dramatic granite peaks and ancient pine trees rising through a sea of mist.

For centuries, this ethereal landscape in Anhui Province has inspired poets, painters and philosophers, and it remains a compelling destination for travelers on our private China tours.

Accompanied by a private guide, travelers ascend Mount Huangshan by one of several cable cars that glide through misty forests to different sections of the massif.

At the top, a network of stone steps and pathways forms a circuit of hiking trails and scenic routes through drifting mists.

Hongcun Village, established in the 12th century, is notable for its sophisticated water system. Water flows through the town from two large ponds that connect to streams and canals, with water channels passing by most households.

Whitewashed courtyard homes with black-tile roofs, elegant interiors and intricate wood and stone carvings offer a glimpse into the refined lifestyle of prosperous Huizhou merchants.

Film enthusiasts might recognize Hongcun Village as a filming location for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000).

In the city of Huangshan, Tunxi Ancient Street is a favorite stop for its vibrant atmosphere and beautifully preserved historic buildings filled with shops, galleries and teahouses.

The street is also known for its traditional craft workshops and boutiques selling local products such as calligraphy ink, handmade brushes and tea, as well as celadon ceramics historically produced in neighboring Zhejiang Province.
