Luxury in Chile
With stunning landscapes including scenic mountains, desert skies full of stars and refined urban neighborhoods, Chile is one of our favorite destinations in South America for all types of travel. Around the country, Artisans of Leisure clients enjoy stays at Chile’s top high-end properties in addition to private touring.
Santiago received a new addition to its stylish Lastarria neighborhood earlier this year with the opening of The Singular’s luxury boutique hotel The Singular Santiago. The hotel is set apart by its sophisticated decor, refined modern Chilean restaurant, rooftop pool with beautiful views over the city and excellent location close to some of Santiago’s top museums, boutiques and other cultural attractions.
Santiago is a great jumping-off point for the rest of Chile, such as the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. Atacama is known for its geysers, salt pans, flamingos, volcano-studded landscapes and some of the world’s best stargazing. One of our favorite hotels in the area is Alto Atacama Desert Lodge & Spa. The hotel’s unique architecture complements the dramatic surrounding environment without compromising luxury or comfort. Sustainability is a guiding principle, evident in the spa’s use of natural resources and the restaurant’s focus on native ingredients. Activities at the lodge include stargazing of the pristine night sky, biking excursions and hikes at many ability levels.
Another favorite combination with Santiago is Chilean Patagonia, an area of craggy mountains, bright blue glaciers, crystalline lakes and gaucho culture. Located just outside Torres del Paine National Park, Relais & Chateaux-affiliated Awasi Patagonia is one of our preferred properties in southern Chile. Private villas are built of locally sourced wood and offer outstanding views of the Torres del Paine and Lake Sarmiento through large windows. Each villa has its own private guide and four-wheel drive vehicle for flexible excursions including nature walks, hikes with glacial views, birdwatching and horseback riding with gauchos.
