Experience Our Laos

Our customized, private insider tours of Laos feature our favorite places and experiences in the country.

A day in Luang Prabang...

Get into the relaxed pace of Laos. Watch monks collecting alms in the morning. Walk among traditional Lao and French-colonial architecture. Stop for a cup of delicious Lao coffee. At the end of the day, climb Mount Phousi to watch the sun set over palm trees, Buddhist temples and the Mekong River.

Idyllic scenery...

We arrange a private boat excursion on the Mekong River past villages, farms and forests to the Pak Ou Caves, which are filled with Buddha sculptures.

Local food tip...

Follow the locals and forget the utensils. Instead, use a ball of sticky rice to scoop delicious curries and other dishes. We can also arrange private Lao cooking lessons to learn to prepare typical Lao meals.

In the markets...

Beautiful woven textiles, jewelry and silver tableware. We can also arrange visits to local weaving villages, where it’s possible to meet artisans from different Lao ethnic groups.

Family fun...

Kuang Si Waterfall has beautiful natural limestone formations. Wading in one of the turquoise pools is a refreshing way to spend an afternoon.

Offbeat experience...

Attend a performance of the Lao National Circus (Hong Kayasin) in Vientiane.

Indulge...

The luxurious Amantaka resort in Luang Prabang occupies a complex of beautifully renovated French-colonial buildings. Individual suites are contemporary and spacious, and many also have private plunge pools.

Try your hand...

We can arrange for a private weaving lesson to learn how to create traditional Lao designs on a loom.

If you dare...

Try lao-lao, the local firewater distilled from rice.

Buddhist culture...

In Luang Prabang, we can arrange visits to ancient Buddhist temples to meet with local monks and learn about their lifestyle. Our guides can also explain the meaning of the distinctive decorations on Wat Xieng Thong and other beautiful temples.

Did you know...

Land of a Million Elephants was the name for the ancient Lao kingdom based in Luang Prabang? Our travelers can visit an elephant foundation during their private Laos tour.
