(13 Days - Departs Daily on a Private Basis)
Fez, Meknes, Volubilis, Marrakesh, High Atlas Mountains, Essaouira, Casablanca
This two-week tour is the perfect overview of the highlights of Morocco, including fascinating cities, ancient ruins, Berber villages, and charming beachside villages.
Start in Fez, the intellectual and religious heart of the nation. Stay at the Sofitel Palais Jamai, a former Moorish palace overlooking the medieval medina (old town). Tour Fez el-Bali ("Fez the Old") and its medieval medina (old town), a UNESCO world heritage site crammed with narrow, winding streets, tiny squares and artisan workshops. Visit centuries-old mosques and universities, see the multi-colored vats of the open-air tanneries, and shop for traditional wares made from copper, ceramics and leather. Also visit Fez el-Djedid ("Fez the New"), built in the 13th century. Visit the Royal Palace and the mellah (Jewish Quarter), the largest in Morocco. From there, take a day excursion to see the ruins in Meknes and Volubilis.
Continue to Marrakesh, an ancient city of weathered pink buildings, romantic restaurants, museums, palaces, bustling souks (markets) and upscale shops. Stay three nights at the exclusive Amanjena, a Moorish-style resort of gardens and reflecting pools set behind ochre-colored walls. With your own guide and driver, experience the best of Marrakesh: the most interesting markets, palaces, gardens, monuments and shopping districts including Djemaa el-Fna, Jardin Majorelle, Jardin Menara, Palais de la Bahia, Dar Si Said Museum of Moroccan Arts and the Palmerie. During leisure time, relax at the Amanjena's spa or traditional hammam (steam bath), enjoy the swimming pool, tennis courts and boutiques, and explore the many excellent dining options both at the resort and in converted palaces and ryads around Marrakesh.
Spend several nights in the High Atlas Mountains at Kasbah Tamadot, one of Morocco's most acclaimed luxury retreats, best known for its traditional Moroccan design and stunning infinity pool overlooking the spectacular mountain views. While there, enjoy private visits to local villages and Berber markets.
Continue to Essaouira, a charming, centuries-old port town on the Atlantic Coast known for beaches, modern art, traditional crafts and a unique blend of architectural styles. Stay at a courtyard palace converted into a luxurious Relais & Chateaux hotel. Alternatively, opt to stay at a larger beachfront resort known for its spa. During private touring, explore narrow streets lined with whitewashed buildings, take in views from atop the city walls and browse the studios of local artisans.
The tour concludes with a brief stay in Casablanca to explore the highlights of this legendary city.
