Romantic Kenya

(12 Days - Departs Daily on a Private Basis)
Nairobi, Meru, Maasai Mara, Diani Beach

This itinerary is perfect for honeymooners or others wishing to have a romantic getaway to Kenya.

Begin with a night in Nairobi, Kenya’s bustling capital city. Relax after your long flight in the comfort of one of the city’s best hotels, or enjoy private touring of Nairobi’s highlights. Perhaps visit the Sheldrick elephant orphanage, which is run by a charitable organization that helps save the lives of orphaned elephants and rhinos and is active in community outreach and anti-poaching programs. Another highlight is visiting Nairobi National Park to go on a game drive or safari walk. Other options include the Giraffe Centre, a sanctuary where visitors may learn about and feed endangered Rothschild giraffes; visiting local arts and crafts galleries and museums; or participating in various philanthropic activities.

Continue to Meru National Park, one of Kenya’s loveliest game parks. The terrain is lush and varied, comprising baobabs, palm trees, tall grass and hippo pools. Stay at Elsa’s Kopje, a romantic hideaway situated on a rocky outcrop overlooking the park. Each cottage is unique, but all share gorgeous views of the wilderness below. Relax by the pool, indulge in spa treatments, and enjoy romantic, candlelit dinners under the stars. During daily game drives, see a wide variety of animals and colorful birds. Meru is one of the best places in East Africa to see black rhinos in the wild, as well as rare antelope species such as lesser kudu. Huge herds of elephants may also be seen.

Next, fly to Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s most legendary safari destination. Maasai Mara is famed for its stunning scenery and abundance of wildlife, as well as for being one of the places (besides the Serengeti in Tanzania) where one may witness the annual great wildebeest migration. Spend three nights at one of Kenya’s most luxurious and historic tented camps, located in one of the only parts of the Mara where black rhinos are still found. During exciting and informative game drives, look for rhinos and other members of the Big Five: lions, buffaloes, elephants and leopards. Cheetahs, zebras, Maasai giraffes, ostrich, hippos, crocodiles, and numerous antelope species are also seen frequently. If desired, activities such as walking safaris, river fishing, special meals in the bush, and more can be arranged.

Finish your tour at a small luxury resort located on a secluded stretch of private, white-sand beach south of Diani Beach. The resort is family owned and managed and is a cozy, sophisticated retreat, tastefully decorated in local Swahili furnishings and objets d’art. During leisure time, relax on the beach or by the pool, swim in the warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, and enjoy yoga or spa treatments. Other optional activities can be arranged such as snorkeling or diving in the marine park; deep-sea fishing; boating excursions to spot dolphins, whale sharks and sea turtles; horseback riding, tennis or golf; hiking or birding in local sacred or mangrove forests; game drives in nearby Shimba Hills National Park; and cultural visits to local villages. There are also excellent opportunities for philanthropic activities in the area. Return to Nairobi, where you will be assisted to your international flight.

Our Kenya tours and safaris include the very best safari guides and vehicles, and the most deluxe hotels and lodges in the country. We can arrange internal charter flights upon request, as well as special experiences such as hot-air balloon rides or mobile camp safaris.
