The ultimate private family tour of England and Scotland, this itinerary features inspiring cultural experiences that showcase the best of British history and legends; classic British experiences suitable for travelers of all ages; and time to relax at a family-friendly resort hotel in the beautiful Scottish countryside.

Begin in London, one of the great cities of the world and an endlessly fascinating destination for adults and children alike. During flexible private touring with your own Blue Badge guide and driver, experience London according to the interests of your family members. Some of our favorite family-friendly options include seeing the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London; touring awe-inspiring Westminster Abbey to learn about some of England’s greatest monarchs, poets and scientists; coming face-to-face with mummies at the British Museum and dinosaurs at the Museum of Natural History; visiting Harry Potter sites such as the London Zoo and Platform 9 ¾ at King’s Cross Station; taking a ride on the London Eye for spectacular views over the city; seeing the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace; sampling sweets and treats galore in the food halls of Harrods; riding a double-decker bus; and browsing one of the best toy stores in the world. Also, enjoy classic London experiences such as a traditional afternoon tea at Claridge’s and a theater performance in the West End.

One day, continue your city touring or opt to visit historic Greenwich, where you can walk through a riverfront park to the hilltop where the Royal Observatory stands guard over Greenwich Mean Time, 0° longitude and panoramic views of London and the Thames. Another day, enjoy a private excursion to one or more of the many fascinating destinations near London, such as Stonehenge, Windsor Castle, Legoland Windsor, Warwick Castle, Bath or the Cotswolds.

Next, transfer to York, stopping en route to visit Oxford. Tour the beautiful architecture of the world-renowned university, and see the dining hall and other locations that inspired key scenes in the Harry Potter movies.

Continue through the beautiful English countryside to York, one of England’s best-preserved medieval towns. During private touring, walk along the ancient city walls and see imposing Micklegate. Stroll narrow alleys past half-timbered houses and centuries-old shops and pubs, and see stunning stained glass windows in York Minster cathedral. A highlight of York is learning about European and English history at the Jorvik Viking Centre, an important archaeological site that has yielded an incredible trove of well-preserved artifacts, and the museum that replicates the way York looked 1,000 years ago.

Next, transfer to Edinburgh, the stunning capital of Scotland. During flexible touring with your private guide, tour Edinburgh Castle, which watches over the city from high atop a volcanic crag, and walk along the Royal Mile, discovering narrow closes (alleys) and stairways running between the picturesque old buildings, and perhaps stopping inside St. Giles Cathedral. Other options include visiting the Royal Botanic Garden; touring the National Museum of Scotland, National Gallery of Art or Museum of Childhood; touring Holyrood Palace; visiting Dean Village; taking walks along the Water of Leith; enjoying views from atop Calton Hill; and hiking up Arthur’s Seat, an extinct volcano on the outskirts of the city.

Continue to Gleneagles, a family-friendly resort on 850 acres in the Perthshire countryside north of Edinburgh, for time at leisure. Enjoy on-site activities such as golf, fishing, horseback riding, biking, falconry, tennis and more. There’s also a golf academy for younger players, as well as a great kids club sure to inspire the little ones.

This tour can be fully customized to your family’s interests and needs.
