Jewish Tour of Central Europe
(12 Days - Departs Daily on a Private Basis)
Warsaw, Auschwitz, Krakow, Budapest, Trebic, Prague

This private luxury tour offers an insider's perspective on the fascinating Jewish history of Central Europe from local guides who are true experts in Jewish history. It features private touring of the most interesting cities and Jewish sites in Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic, as well as general cultural touring, shopping at the best traditional and antique shops, and accommodation at the finest luxury hotels in the region. Upon request, Artisans of Leisure can assist with researching family heritage.

Begin in Warsaw. Enjoy private touring of the Old Town, beautiful palaces and parks, and important Jewish historical sites such as the Ghetto, the Jewish Cemetery, and the Nozyk Synagogue-the city's only synagogue to survive World War II. Shop in the city's best boutiques and perhaps see a unique memorial to Frederic Chopin, a local hero.

Next, transfer by car through farmland and forests to Auschwitz and Birkenau, sites of unforgettable suffering during the Holocaust.

Continue to Krakow, Poland's well-preserved cultural capital. Tour the Old Town, see da Vinci's Lady with an Ermine, explore boutiques, and relax in outdoor cafes. Also, tour Kazimierz, the Jewish district, to see several important synagogues, the old Jewish cemetery and traditional neighborhoods, as well as the former Jewish Ghetto just across the river.

Transfer by private car through the beautiful Tatra Mountains en route to Budapest, one of the most important Jewish destinations in the world. During private touring, visit the second largest synagogue in the world, stop by kosher restaurants, see a synagogue designed by Otto Wagner, and visit museums and memorials related to Jewish history and the holocaust. Also enjoy a thorough private tour of beautiful residential neighborhoods and learn about the Jewish families who once lived there and the spectacular role they played in the city's social, intellectual and business history. Also, browse food and antique markets for local specialties and Old World treasures. Drive through hidden backstreets. Explore the Castle District and take a tour of Buda's most exclusive residential districts. Experience the local bathing culture, and see indoor and outdoor baths that remain central to daily life. Tour museums according to your interests, such as fine art, decorative art or music. Take an exclusive private tour of Parliament, a fascinating building crucial to the city's identity. Enjoy reservations at the city's leading restaurants-an excellent opportunity to experience Hungary's superb wines. One evening, take a romantic cruise on the Danube River. Stay at one of Europe's most luxurious and beautiful hotels—a true work of art—and enjoy the spa and views over the Danube from your room.

Continue by private car to Prague, stopping en route to tour Trebic, a small town with one of the best-preserved Jewish Quarters in the world—it includes synagogues, houses, town hall, school, hospital, butchery, tannery and more. In Prague, tour the Jewish Quarter, including the cemetery and synagogues. One day, take an excursion to Terezin concentration camp. Also, tour Prague's cultural highlights such as the castle and the Old Town, and Art Nouveau museum, and other recommended attractions.
