Begin with comprehensive private touring in Paro, a resort valley town. Tour the town, the National Museum, the surrounding verdant valleys, and take a gentle hike to the famous Tiger's Nest, a breathtaking monastery clinging to a sheer cliff face and one of the most important icons of Bhutan. If desired, enjoy a bicycle excursion to a nearby valley, shop for local crafts in town, or try your hand at archery, the national sport of Bhutan.
Continue to Thimphu, the charming capital of Bhutan. Explore the surrounding valley with your private guide, visit the best cultural attractions and important Buddhist highlights, experience the local culture, stroll through the bustling local market, and opt to visit various small museums specializing in textiles, folk heritage, and traditional Bhutanese arts and crafts. Touring each day will be tailored to your interests and you will have the opportunity for a day hike to rural villages and monasteries, a private Bhutanese cooking lesson, a meeting with an astrologer, or a private meditation with monks.
Drive through the mountains and see unforgettable view of the Himalayan peaks on your way to Punakha, the ancient winter capital, located in a sub-tropical valley where rhododendron and magnolia bloom and orange and banana trees flourish. Relax at your luxurious farmhouse-style lodge, set among rice terraces, chili and cabbage fields and traditional Bhutanese farmhouses. Enjoy a peaceful walk through rural farming villages, receive a blessing from a monk, opt to hike up a mountain for beautiful panoramic views of the valley, and visit the stunning Punakha Dzong.
Next, embark on a two-night private trekking experience, complete with your own private trek guide, pack horses, and a cook. The Semtengang Trek is one of Bhutan’s most beautiful low-altitude treks and passes through rural villages, farm land, fields and forests of rhododendron, and rice terraces. High-quality camping gear will be provided.
After your trek, enjoy time relax at a peaceful, luxury lodge in Gangtey. Opt for flexible touring and visit the surrounding valleys, home to the endangered and graceful black-necked cranes that fly in from northern China, Mongolia and Siberia. Also explore Gangtey’s secluded monasteries and temples.
Return to Paro for a final night before your return flight to Bangkok or India.
