Art Tour of Switzerland
(8 Days - Departs Daily on a Private Basis) Zurich, Winterthur, St. Gallen, Basel, Weil am Rhein, Bern, Geneva
This private tour of Switzerland features outstanding art and architecture, well-preserved historic districts, stunning landscapes and the finest luxury hotels in the country.
Begin in Zurich, a city of renowned art and architecture. During private touring with your local expert guide, see highlights such as the Old Town, Kunsthaus, Landesmuseum (Swiss National Museum), the Centre Le Corbusier-Heidi Weber Museum, and churches with stained glass windows designed by Marc Chagall and Sigmar Polke. One day, take a private excursion to see the highlights of nearby towns, such as the Oskar Reinhart Museum in Winterthur and the UNESCO-inscribed abbey and library in St. Gallen.
Next, transfer to Basel, home to dozens of excellent museums and one of the world’s most important contemporary art fairs. With your private guide, tour the highlights of the Old Town; visit the city’s best art spaces, such as the Kunstmuseum and Fondation Beyeler; and see architectural landmarks such as the Schaulager, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, and the Goetheanum, by Rudolf Steiner. One day, take an excursion just across the border to Weil am Rhein, Germany to tour the Vitra Design Museum and factory, a remarkable collection of buildings by some of the world’s leading architects, including Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid and Tadao Ando. You might also like to opt to extend time in Basel to make a private excursion to the Chapel of Notre Dame du Haut, one of Le Corbusier's most renowned designs, in nearby Ronchamp, France.
Continue to Bern, the capital of Switzerland and one of its prettiest cities. Visit the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and see interesting art and architecture such as the Kunstmuseum; the Zentrum Paul Klee, designed by Renzo Piano; and the Westside Shopping and Leisure Centre by Daniel Libeskind.
End in Geneva, which sits on the shore of beautiful Lake Geneva (Lac Leman). During private touring, see highlights such as the Museum of Art and History, the MAMCO (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) and the Quartier des Bains gallery district.
This tour can easily be extended to include additional days or other attractions in Switzerland, such as Lucerne, Interlaken and the Swiss Alps.
