Tokyo, Kurashiki, Hiroshima, Himeji Castle,
Kyoto,
Nara, Hakone and Mt. Fuji
Japan has become one of the most popular family destinations in the world
-- and rightly so. It's a safe country, with a level of friendliness
and hospitality that surpasses many other destinations.
Japan's hotels are extremely
luxurious, with modern amenities and services. Sightseeing options
are so extensive that all family members are guaranteed to be pleased.
Artisans of Leisure works closely
with families to design itineraries that suit the interests and needs
of each member. Below is a sample Japan family tour.
Tokyo
- Enjoy a guided tour of Tokyo's trendiest streets for teenagers and
view the latest fashions and technology.
- Children of all ages will love the toy floors and food halls at the
department stores, while adults can admire the exquisite lacquerware
and pottery on the housewares floor.
- Visit Tokyo's famed electronics district, Akihabara, and visit enormous
shrines in Tokyo, unlike anything seen in the U.S.
- Visit the Edo-Tokyo Museum to learn about life in traditional Japan,
and have lunch at a noodle restaurant where sumo wrestlers dine every
day.
Kurashiki
and Hiroshima
- Travel via bullet train to the picturesque small town of Kurashiki,
lined with canals and ancient white storage buildings (kura)
that have been transformed into restaurants, inns, museums, and shops.
- Take a day excursion to nearby Hiroshima and tour the educational
and extremely moving Hiroshima Peace Park.
- Visit Miyajima Island, one of Japan's most scenic spots.
Himeji
Castle, Kyoto, Nara, Hakone and Mt. Fuji
- En route to Kyoto, visit Himeji Castle, Japan's most intact medieval
castle.
- Kyoto will impress the entire family: Walk through enormous bamboo
forests; learn about origami and experience a tea ceremony at a private
home; visit awe-inspiring mountain-top temples and shrines.
- See Geisha in the Gion district.
- Sample the local culinary specialties.
- In Hakone, take a gondola ride past Mt. Fuji, and a stay at a luxury
ryokan with outdoor hot springs.
