Experience Our Spain

Our customized, private insider tours of Spain feature our favorite places and experiences in the country.

Exquisite Moorish design...

Andalusia is the place to see beautiful Moorish tiles, gardens, fountains and carvings in places like the Alhambra in Granada and the historic Jewish Quarter in Cordoba.

A perfect day in Barcelona...

Touring spectacular Gaudi-designed buildings, seeing contemporary art, browsing the boutiques in design districts and eating delicious tapas.

For art lovers...

Have us arrange a tour of Madrid’s major art museums, including the Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza, with an art expert.

For architecture buffs...

Bilbao’s cityscape showcases the designs of some of the biggest names in contemporary architecture, including Santiago Calatrava, Cesar Pelli, Arata Isozaki, Rafael Moneo, Norman Foster and, of course, Frank Gehry.

Unusual churches...

Must-see churches include the unforgettable Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Antoni Gaudi’s still-under-construction modern masterpiece, and the breathtaking Mosque-Cathedral (Mezquita) in Cordoba, a forest of Moorish columns with a Baroque church built in the middle.

Go wild...

Don’t miss the Costa Brava, or “wild coast,” north of Barcelona, for beautiful landscapes, delicious food, atmospheric medieval towns, interesting Jewish touring, and weird and wonderful sites associated with artist Salvador Dali.

Families love...

Biking and hiking excursions, family-friendly lessons in cooking or Spanish guitar, seeing ancient ruins, touring science museums and aquariums, taking tapas tours, enjoying luxury beach resorts and attending soccer games.

Favorite place for a coffee or cocktail...

Sitting at an outdoor cafe in Seville’s colorful Barrio Santa Cruz, where the sounds of flamenco drift through streets lined with orange trees and courtyards filled with flowers.

A must for foodies...

We love eating our way through Barcelona’s La Boqueria Market, a favorite with local chefs.

Meal with a view...

Take in views of the Alhambra while enjoying a meal in a carmen (traditional villa) in the whitewashed Albaicin neighborhood in Granada.

For gourmets...

We make reservations at top Michelin-starred and “world’s best”-ranked restaurants throughout Spain.

For active travelers...

Hike in the beautiful sierras (mountains) around Madrid, Barcelona or Mallorca, or walk a section of the storied Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route in northern Spain.

Secret society...

Artisans of Leisure has access to a members-only gastronomic society in San Sebastian where our travelers can enjoy a hands-on cooking class.

Splash out...

Consider chartering a yacht for a day along the Mediterranean coast near Marbella or Barcelona.

Favorite day trip...

From Madrid, we love taking an excursion to nearby Segovia to see its fairy-tale castle, well-preserved Roman aqueduct and panoramic views over the countryside. We also enjoy the delicious suckling pig, a local specialty.

Where wine meets art...

We use the Frank Gehry-designed Hotel Marques de Riscal as a base for touring the La Rioja wine region, including visiting high-design bodegas and trying some of Spain’s best wines.

It takes a village...

The Andalusian countryside is studded with charming pueblos blancos (whitewashed towns) such as Ronda, which spans a spectacular gorge.

A glass of history...

While on a private tapas tour in Madrid, our guides might take you to a historic sherry bar for a glass of fino or Manzanilla, snacks like Marcona almonds and Campo Real olives, and tales of when the bar was a Republican hangout during the Spanish Civil War.

Local life...

Join locals on a Sunday afternoon stroll through Retiro Park in Madrid, or watch traditional sardanas dancing in the square outside the cathedral in Barcelona.

For sports enthusiasts...

Artisans of Leisure can procure hard-to-come-by tickets to top futbol (soccer) matches and bull fights.

Favorite shopping...

Spanish clothing (beautiful sweaters, shawls and leather), artisanal chocolate, wine, olive oil, cheese, and housewares from Vincon, an upscale design emporium.
